The Ritz Teen Thespian Guild presents Shakespeare in Shorts
November 12, 2010 10:00 AM
The Ritz Teen Thespian Guild, a group of young performers from area high schools, will present two charming one-act plays inspired by the Bard. The first is The Fifteen Minute Hamlet by celebrated playwright Tom Stoppard. He has taken the most recognizable and best-loved lines from Shakespeare's most famous play and condensed them into a thirteen-minute version. This miraculous feat is followed by a hectic and hilarious two-minute encore that retells the story yet again!
Charles George's, When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet, has six of the most notable heroines in literature getting together to discuss that universal topic - Love. Imagine the fun when shrewish Kate, mad Ophelia, enchanting Cleopatra, wise Portia, and victim Desdemona convene to offer Juliet advice on how best to conduct a romance with Romeo! Students are presented with a wonderful and painless introduction to the works of Shakespeare, made all the more delightful and memorable by watching their peers acting on the stage.
