Rydell High's spirited class of '59 - gum-chewing, hubcap-stealing, hot-rod loving boys with D.A.'s and their wise-cracking girls in bobby sox and pedal pushers - capture the look and sound of the 1950s in a rollicking musical. While hip Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski resolve the problems of their mutual attraction, the gang sings and dances its way through nostalgic scenes. Originally staged as a five-hour amateur production in a Chicago trolley barn, Grease takes a satirical look at the dress, manners, morals, and music of teenagers at the beginning of the rock and roll era. The plot revolves primarily around the attraction between greaser Danny and the virtuous Sandy. The show spawned such musical hits as "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightning," and "Beauty School Dropout." Along the way, it enjoyed a run of 3,388 performances--a record which would stand until 1980 when it was overtaken by A Chorus Line. The original cast featured Barry Bostwick and Carole Demas. John Travolta and Olivia Newton John starred in the 1978 film version. You're the one that we want! Auditions for Grease are December 2 and 3, 2007 at 6:00 PM!
